Mysterious Disappearing Files only to Reappear

Here’s an odd one, anyway to me it’s kind of odd.

I have a user who browses the network via mapped network drives delivered
from a login script. When the user finds the folder or subfolder they are
looking for the files in that folder momentarily appear for a few seconds,
then the files disappear for 5-15 seconds and then the files reappear again.
Accessing the files is completely functional, it’s just a nuisance that they
disappear and reappear and this user would like it rectified.
Changing the view for files is an apparent joke in Windows as a whole
because no matter what you set it at it seems Windows gives you the view it
wants you to have anyway, especially through an applications Open dialog box.

Anybody got any ideas?

TIA
