Troublesome Networking!Hi, I have a Netgear DG814gt router with a cable connection to my XP Pro
desktop, and a XP Pro Laptop connected wirelessly to the Netgear. I sometimes manage to get connected to my LAN, but usually I get the “\\(comp name)\(shared folder), is not accessible, You might not have permissions to use this network resource. The Network path was not found,†Dialogue box. I was using the network last night, yet this morning it is providing me with the not found dialogue box. I can browse to the MS Home location, but am not able to view the contents. I have tried setting up an ICS connection from Internet Options, Connections, but I am not sure if it has actually enabled ICS. Do I need ICS as I connect to the Internet through the router, not desktop?.--- Connected via a residential Gateway??!! I would appreciate a clear instruction on how to set up a LAN with this configuration, but I'm not too savvy with technical terms! Thanks for any advice. In your case, you do NOT need ICS - the Netgear router provides Internet sharing. Run the Network Setup Wizard on both computers, and select This computer connects to the Internet through another computer on my network or through a residential gateway. (The Netgear is a residential gateway). <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/using-network-setup-wizard-in-windows.html#NATClient> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/using-network-setup-wizard-in-windows.html#NATClient -- Cheers, Chuck, MS-MVP [Windows - Networking] http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/ Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience.
