Hi,

When I try to add a network connection I get a message "Your account does
not have adequate permissions to setup a home or office network" eventhough I
have administrator rights.

Can anyone give me some advice on this problem?

Thank you very much.

I've got the same issue in Win XP Pro. I can't run the Nework Setup
Wizard because WinXP says that "Your account does not have
adequate permissions to set up a home or small office network."

I have 4 user accounts configured on my system (1 for me and 3 for
my kids); all 4 accounts are Computer Administrator accounts (the
kids were blocked from using many various programs when I had
them configured as limited users).

I've tried running the Network Setup Wizard from each of the 4
accounts and received the aforementioned error. I then tried
down-grading all of the accounts to Limited Users; Windows
stopped me from changing the last account (my account) stating
that there needed to be at least one Administrator account.

So, WinXP understood that my account was a System Administrator
in that context, but failed to see it as an administrator account in
the
context of the Network Setup Wizard. Sounds like a bug to me
(although it may be considered a security feature in Redmond WA).

I've been using this computer for over a year now and I've
previously been able to run the Network Setup Wizard without any
problems.

Dear MSFT: Any suggestions?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I am currently working with MS tech support on this issue and trying a
couple of things that was recommended for me to do. The first option that I
tried today did not work, so I am hoping that we can come up with a solution
very soon. When we correct this issue I will send you the information.

Thanks,

Luis
