I can see other computers when I view workgroup computers in my network
places.  But I can't see my own computer in the list and neither can anyone
else see my computer on that list.  I'm apart of the workgroup though because
I can see and access everyone's computers.  Anyone have an idea? I'm using XP
pro.

Chris,

One of the most common causes of this problem would be a misconfigured or
overlooked personal firewall, or other security component. There are several
other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem. Read this
article with an open mind.

Check for a consistent NetBT setting, on all computers.

We could look at "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all", from the problem
computer and 2 others, and diagnose the problem.  Read this article, and linked
articles, and follow instructions precisely (download browstat!):

Chuck,

It may seem like i'm looking for an easy answer but I've spent some time on
those websites and don't seem to be getting anywhere. I ran the ipconfig/all
on the bad computer and on a good one.  They both have the same beginning ip
192.168.1.xxx .  Some of the tips on the webpages I don't understand.  If it
helps, the bad computer was working 3 days ago until I deleted a user
account.  So the good news is that it WAS once working.  The bad news is, i
have no idea what setting got swithced off.

Chris,

We can help you, but you have to work with us.  I don't know what got changed, I
just try and help out to figure what needs to be changed again.

So since you don't see anything interesting in "ipconfig /all", try posting the
output, and we will do some more diagnostics.  And there is nothing there that
will be of use to any bad guy, so help us to help you.

Yes I have enable file and printer sharing.

Here's what boggling me.  3 days ago this computer was working perfectly.
Everyone can see me on the network and I can see everyone else on the
network.  I deleted one of the user accounts on this PC yesterday and now
I've been removed from the network list.  But how am I still apart of the
same workgroup? I can view everyone's computers still; they just can't view
mine.

What do you receive if using net view \\remotepcip? If it is system error 5, this is permission issue; if it is system error 53, this is connectivity issue.
