Workgroup computersI can see other computers when I view workgroup computers in my network
places. But I can't see my own computer in the list and neither can anyone else see my computer on that list. I'm apart of the workgroup though because I can see and access everyone's computers. Anyone have an idea? I'm using XP pro. On Wed, 18 Oct 2006 08:30:01 -0700, Chris <Ch***@discussions.microsoft.com>

One of the most common causes of this problem would be a misconfigured or overlooked personal firewall, or other security component. There are several other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem. Read this article with an open mind. <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/10/irregularities-in-workgroup-visibility.html> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/10/irregularities-in-workgroup-visibility.html Check for a consistent NetBT setting, on all computers. <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/04/netbios-over-tcpip.html> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/04/netbios-over-tcpip.html We could look at "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all", from the problem computer and 2 others, and diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (download browstat!): <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/troubleshooting-network-neighborhood.html#AskingForHelp> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/troubleshooting-network-neighborhood.html#AskingForHelp -- Cheers, Chuck, MS-MVP [Windows - Networking] http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/ Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience. It may seem like i'm looking for an easy answer but I've spent some time on those websites and don't seem to be getting anywhere. I ran the ipconfig/all on the bad computer and on a good one. They both have the same beginning ip 192.168.1.xxx . Some of the tips on the webpages I don't understand. If it helps, the bad computer was working 3 days ago until I deleted a user account. So the good news is that it WAS once working. The bad news is, i have no idea what setting got swithced off. On Wed, 18 Oct 2006 09:33:02 -0700, Chris <Ch***@discussions.microsoft.com>

We can help you, but you have to work with us. I don't know what got changed, I just try and help out to figure what needs to be changed again. So since you don't see anything interesting in "ipconfig /all", try posting the output, and we will do some more diagnostics. And there is nothing there that will be of use to any bad guy, so help us to help you. <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/06/privacy-statement.html> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/06/privacy-statement.html -- Cheers, Chuck, MS-MVP [Windows - Networking] http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/ Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience. Here's what boggling me. 3 days ago this computer was working perfectly. Everyone can see me on the network and I can see everyone else on the network. I deleted one of the user accounts on this PC yesterday and now I've been removed from the network list. But how am I still apart of the same workgroup? I can view everyone's computers still; they just can't view mine. Show quoteHide quote "Robert L [MVP - Networking]" wrote: > Have you enable file and printer sharing?
