MN-500 Connection Problem

With a notebook hardwired to the MN-500, the connection is dropped very
often [especially after coming out of standby] and the only way to get it
back is to shut off the computer, unplug the cable, and power up. The
wireless connection will always work.

I hope there is a simple solution.

Frank,

Check the power management setting for the Ethernet adapter.

Thanks, Chuck, for your help.

I did as you suggested and found that box already unchecked. Is there
anything else besides getting a new router?

Post "ipconfig /all" when connected by WiFi, when connected by Ethernet, and
when connection dropped.

What exactly is happening when "the connection is dropped"?

1) Try another port on the router.
2) Try another Ethernet cable.
3) Try another Ethernet adapter.
4) Update firmware on both adapter and router.

I thought I had it today The connection  lasted for almost 5 hours. I closed
the lid to my notebook and a couple hours later opened the lid and nothing -
computer would not come out of standby. When I finally got it rebooted, the
Local Area Connection was gone and the broadband controller was gone from
the Device Manager.

Never say die is my motto and is what kept me going to solution to this
mindblower. Undaunted I checked setups, files, drivers, firmware and
software updates, uninstall and reinstall and then double checked again.
Into the registry, msconfig, and personal protection plans, everything was
either, turned off, un checked, rechecked, or otherwise taken in or out of
the mix. Finally after a week of up and down the stairs and hours of hard
work and frustration - SUCCESS.

Today after throwing out 5 computers and all the networking gear, I took out
a second mortgae and bought all new stuff and paid someone to hook it all
up.

Like I said, Never say die.
