File Sharing ProblemI have 2 computers set up on a wired network using a hub. One computer runs on Windows XP Pro, the other on Windows 98. I can share most of the files that are in the designated shared directories but not all. The one directory that gives me trouble is in my Win Xp machine: D:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents Under this folder i have the regular My Music and My Videos subfolders. Some of the files under these subfolders cannot be accessed through my Win98 PC at all but others can! For Example I can open, move, or delete "She Will Be Loved.mp3" but can't do the same for "La Bamba.mid" or "In Da Club.mp3" even though they're located in the same place! I can see the files but i can't manipulate them. Also weird: when i moved on my Win XP PC "La Bamba.mid" from "my music" up to the parent "documents" folder, i managed to share it with my second PC. So the problem isn't with the file. However, if the location is bad how can i open up some files while not being able to open up others? Please Help On Sat, 21 Oct 2006 04:53:01 -0700, whomaniac

You need to check permissions on all files, and make sure that they are identical. <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/09/server-access-authorisation.html> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/09/server-access-authorisation.html -- Cheers, Chuck, MS-MVP [Windows - Networking] http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/ Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience.
