There are settings where they can see if they are the default browser but that can be turned off. In article <EA5F4E4D-B7E1-408F-A87C-248976C27***@microsoft.com>,

Wish I could say I misunderstood.......The e-mail quoted below was delivered to everyone in our company this morning. I'm trying to figure out if this policy makes any sense and whether we will have any problems on our workstations due to the installation of Virtual PC for this purpose only. "Firefox 2 was officially released yesterday. ITS is making preparations to create a Windows XP image with Firefox 2, that will be made available to developers needing to test compatibility. As noted in last week's message regarding the release of Internet Explorer 7, the installation of Firefox 2 as well as any browsers other than Internet Explorer 6 will be made available in a Virtual PC image, to be run simultaneously on your existing computer. If you need to test Firefox 2 or any browsers other than Internet Explorer 6, please contact the Help Desk to make arrangements for the installation of Virtual PC and the specialized image. Using other browsers may invoke problems that they are unfamiliar with and they want a way out. This has nothing to do with Firefox or IE7 being incompatible, but with how they render some web applications. That is, they've got the issues with IE6 under control, and they don't want to take the chance of messing up the production systems by installing a brand new release of either product (or, for that matter "any browsers other than Internet Explorer 6"). By implication -- and experience -- both IE7 and FF2 are likely to have some sorting out to do before any company IT dept is willing to do a production install. -- Lem MS MVP -- Networking To the moon and back with 64 Kbits of RAM and 512 Kbits of ROM. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo_Guidance_Computer Thanks for this additional info.
