Windows ProfilesCan someone please help me out on this issue? We currently have roughly 140
users they all have there own laptop/desktops. We are on Win2k3 running AD. I am about to start to make home profiles for all users, but what i really want is to only allow access to their machines to login. Yes, they will be roaming profiles but i want them to only have access to their machine. Also, is there i way to same all the documents and files in the My Document folder, but with the exception to MP3 files. Is ther an app out there that might allow this??? thanks in adv. ed I don't quite understand why you want to use roaming profiles in this kind of
fixed-user setup. Perhaps you have specific reason, but personally I'd avoid them unless there is a definite reason to use them. They incur a huge hit in terms of complexity and network-bandwidth. I'm fairly sure you can restrict logon by IP or MAC address. That should satisfy the need to lock-down a user to one computer. I'm not sure how to do this on 2003 server, though, as we don't use it. Yet. Maybe one of the 2003 gurus knows... XXCOPY would allow you to copy files with exclusions. I use a script to do a similar thing for laptop users' profiles, as a backup-precaution. ------------------------------- An alternative approach to XP network logon - http://mylogon.net Show quoteHide quote "edgar" wrote: > Can someone please help me out on this issue?
