Windows XP, Vista, Windows 2003, and other OS' are using Ethernet Network, and Ethernet does not care which OS it is. You have to configure Sharing, and other Network setting on each computer, and you would have to learn how to set WinXP, and how to set Vista since the setting interface is not exactly the same, but as far as being compatible it is Not an Issue.
