problem useing ethernet network

hi i am useing an ethernet cable to network to my laptop. It did work fine
but for some reason it now keeps saying that i dont have the administrators
permission to access the files?  This is very annoying as i am the
administrator of my network !!!  i think i am ?? well i should be.  Any
clues!!  My laptop is now showing both machines on workgroups but i cant get
any joy on the server  ie my main computer.  P s  both are running windows XP

hi if anyone is interested, I had the wizard in norton firewall  set up the
right settings for me.  It now works fine, simple really

Hi Misty,

Thanks for the update.  Personal firewalls are a very frequent cause of problems
like yours, and NPF is one of the known offenders.
