Hi people,

I am having some serious problems networking and I am now at the end of my
teather.

I have had my pc connected via lan with my laptop (both running XP) fine
until one day they decided not to work. Neither PC is connected to the
internet.

When I attempted the network wizard, I got a spooler error. Looking around
on here I found a way to stop that. But I m now in the position where the two
computers dont like each other. My laptop says the LAN is connected but
firewalled. I turn this off, but it appears to come straight back on again.
The PC is saying the LAN connection is enabled. Is this the same as
connected, or is it having difficulties.

If I go into workgroup computers on my laptop, it tells me that my laptop is
the only one connected, but my PC is telling me mshome is not accessible and
I may not have network permissions to view them.

Can anyone help??

When you ran the Network Setup Wizard, what selection did you make?  Rerun it,
and select
This computer belongs to a network that does not have an Internet connection.

Then let's look at the output from "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all", from
each computer, so we can diagnose the problem.  Read this article, and linked
articles, and follow instructions precisely (download browstat!):
