I try following:

PC to PC connection (2 Laptops) with 1394 Kabel
both Win XP with sp2 and patch 885222

Enabled TCP/IP on both with manual IP settings to
  192.168.3.1  255.255.255.0
  192.168.3.2  255.255.255.0
Enabled Microsoft Network Client
Enabled File Sharing
Switched to  "NetBios over TCP/IP" in Advanced - WINS Tab

Both show a 1394 Connection and some transfered packages after
connection.

But:
ping to the other maschine does not work at all...

Any tips ?

tnx

That should work.  Configure any firewall program (Windows Firewall,
Norton, McAfee, ZoneAlarm, PC-cillin, etc) to allow access by other
computers on the 192.168.3.x subnet.

I marked "Don't allow exceptions" in windows Firewall configuration.

Works now.

You're welcome.  I assume that you mean that you un-checked the box
that says "Don't allow exceptions".  That would enable several
exceptions on local area networks, including the one for file and
printer sharing.
