NIC will not conect at full speed.I am runing Windows XP Pro SP2. I have a NIC that if set to automatically
detect network speed or to run at 100 Mbps constantly tells me that I have a network cable unplugged. If I set it to run at 10 Mbps half or full duplex it works fine. I have tried replacing the UTP cable and the port on the router to no avail. I have also replaced the NIC with a new one and still have the same problem. All of the other computers on the network have no problem with connecting at full speed. I have had this problem before with this same computer and set it to run at 10 Mbps and left it alone but I have since done a full reinstall of Windows and the problem resurfaced. Any help would be greatly appreciated. In news:07B54464-0D65-42F5-ACE9-54CC8FFC5E85@microsoft.com, ouachiski <ouachi***@discussions.microsoft.com> typed:> I am runing Windows XP Pro SP2. I had a linksys lne 100tx NIC and replaced it with a DLink DFE-5300tx+. Seeing as how all of the other computers hooked to the router connect fine and that I have switched ports on the router and cables to known good ones and installed a new network card a software problem was the only thing that I could figure out might be the cause. Thanks you've tried a new NIC - I'm not sure what I'd try, honestly....sorry I couldn't help more. You might check out http://www.experts-exchange.com/Networking/Broadband/DSL_Cable/Q_20418688.html#7552492 .....someone said they had this problem & it turned out to be a flaky power supply....or a video card that was acting wonky. Googling for "windows xp" "network cable is unplugged" autosense NIC got a bunch of hits, and you might try looking there.
