Difficulty with home edition connecting to web

Hi:
I'm running XP home edition on an older machine with a 3Com network
card connected to a Linksys router and then a cable modem. I get the
message
"can't reset IP address" from the windows troubleshooter. I've tried
about every configuration that I can think of. There are two other
machines on the router (one running Win98 and the other XP) that work
fine. Any suggestions????
Thanks,
Mark Schultz

Were you ever able to connect with this machine? If so, what changed
between the time things worked and the time they didn't? If you can't
pinpoint anything, uninstall the 3Com and swap it out for a
known-working NIC. If you can get online then, you know the 3Com has
died and gone to NIC Heaven.
