home networking between win XP home and XP proI am trying to hook up a windows XP home PC and XP pro PC through a DSL
router. Both computers are connected to the internet, but the XP home computer can't find the pro computer in the workgroup. They are both in the same workgroup. The pro computer can find and share with the home computer. I can also connect to the pro computer by using remote desktop from the home computer. I can also ping the pro computer by name or IP address. I just can't add the pro computer to my network places or access shared files through workgroups. Any ideas? There are several other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem. Read this article with an open mind. <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/10/irregularities-in-workgroup-visibility.html> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/10/irregularities-in-workgroup-visibility.html You could look at "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each computer, and diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (download browstat!): <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/troubleshooting-network-neighborhood.html#AskingForHelp> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/troubleshooting-network-neighborhood.html#AskingForHelp -- Cheers, Chuck, MS-MVP [Windows - Networking] http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/ Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience.
