I should know this,but....I have a laptop and a my user account and computer are registered in my home
domain. I want to travel with this laptop to another city and connect on their domain. Besides having my user account setup on the other domain, do I need to do anything further (like have the laptop joined to that domain using the networking properties)? if I do this, will I have to keep changing this back and forth when moving from one domain to the other or will we just need to use the drop box on the login screen? Sorry, never traveled and needed to connect to anothers domain... Ric Hi
Are you sure that you are on a Domain? Workgroup, and a domain are Not the same. Domain needs a connection to a real Server (like) Windows 2003. In any case, assuming that your are using Windows XP. Wireless computer can connect to an Open Public Hot Spot if it set to obtain the Network parameters automatically, and its security is Off. You can use Wireless Zero Configuration, or the original Wireless Card's Utility. In case you need to connect to a Wireless Network that is a part of a domain, or and it is secured, you have to get the logon parameters from the person in charge at your interned location. May be this can Help to, http://www.ezlan.net/faq#fewtcp-ip Jack (MVP-Networking). information) and yes it is domains. We have servers at each location. The main issue I need to overcome is printing at the second location. access shared devices and so on just by connecting to the device, and assuming that you are set up as a user with the relevant permissions on that server you should be able to do what you need to.
