Can't get home network to see NASI have been trying to figure out this problem to no avail. Just bought
an NAS, an HP Media Vault MV2010. Hooked it up to the linksys router. I have a laptop. I can ping the NAS and adjust its settings using the software that came with it, BUT I cannot get Windows to recognize it. I am using XP Pro SP 2. I have disabled the Windows Firewall and the NAV Worm protection. I have checked that the router was DHCP. Made sure I was TCP/IP etc. Can anyone help? Tech support was not use. What more info do you need? Thanks, Charles Charles:
Not an expert on this, and hope you can get some comments. I'm surprised HP cannot give you a good answer. I had a few problems with Compaq products, and I was able to get some answers from the HP knowledgebase plus live chat. Did they give you possible solutions or was it a runaround?? I'm looking at some NAS products, some comments I've seen on another thread, and this one gives me pause. Looks like this device can centralize storage, backup, and do print serving all in one place -- if it works. Am I right. The price on the HP site for $349.00 after rebate, if it does all it says, is not bad I finally got a home network PLUS an office network going, and one command that helped was "NBTSTAT". Wondering what you when you do this?? Seems logical to me that the NAS should be out there visible to the XP, has a name etc, before you can do anything. Any clue about this in their configuration software, i.e. can you give it a name etc., and then can you see it by "search for computer", manually add to Network places etc. Show quoteHide quote "Charles M" wrote: > I have been trying to figure out this problem to no avail. I bought two HP-Compaq P.C.s this year and H.P has made me jump through loops to get the rebates. It has been 3 months and I still have not gotten the last rebate. I will never buy another HP-Compaq computer. - Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - FrankChin wrote: Show quoteHide quote > Charles: > > Not an expert on this, and hope you can get some comments. > > I'm surprised HP cannot give you a good answer.
