XP machine can't see network

Hello;

I have a wired network with 3 XP machines through a Netgear router - all 3
machines can see each other and the network works great.  Now I am trying to
add a 4th XP machine to the network.  When I use the network wizard to add
the 4 machine everything appears to go OK.  From the "new" 4th machine when I
go to my computer and do Map Network Drive and try to browse the network I
can see the workgroup name of BAP on the 4th computer but when I click on BAP
it should drop down to show the other 3 machines on the network but when I
click on BAP nothing happens.

It appears that the 4th machine I am trying to add to the network can see
the BAP network icon but not the other 3 computer names.

Does anyone have an idea what the problem is?  I have tried turning off the
Windows firewall on the machine I am trying to add to the network but this is
no help.  Thanks very much for your help!

Bill,

This is a typical problem with SMBs, frequently caused by a misconfigured or
overlooked personal firewall, or other security component. There are several
other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem. Read this
article with an open mind.

Check the NetBT setting, and make sure that it's consistent.

You could look at "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each computer, and
diagnose the problem.  Read this article, and linked articles, and follow
instructions precisely (download browstat!):
