I'm assuming that you had a wired network using Ethernet cables, not a
wireless network.

If the remaining computer connects to the Internet through an Ethernet
connection to a DSL modem, cable modem, or broadband router, you have
to leave the network running.

If you don't need the Ethernet connection for anything, open the
Network Connections folder, right-click the local area network
connection, and disable it.

Hi, yes I was networked through a router(wrt54g v.2) through ethernet
cables. I still need the ethernet connection going because of XB LIVE. I can
not disable it or I will lose my internet too. What can I do to stop that
pesky error message?

I'm sorry, but I don't know what XB LIVE is.

What does that pesky error message say, and when does it appear?

Is the computer still connected to the router?  If not, what is it
connected to?

Sorry XB LIVE means XBOX LIVE. The error message appears about every couple
of hours and it says "there is an ip address conflict with another device on
your network". Yes the computer is still connected to the router and so is my
XBOX 360 and my regular XBOX, all through ethernet cables.
