Can't set up workgroupI am trying to share files between my desktop and laptop. When I click on
"view workgroup computers" on the desktop I can see the desktop, but not the laptop. When I do the same on the laptop the computer gets hung-up and I get an error: "WorkgroupName is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The list of servers for this workgroup is currently not available." Any ideas? This is driving me nuts. On Sat, 18 Nov 2006 15:01:02 -0800, mtnblue222

This is driving me nuts. component. There are several other possibilities too. <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/10/irregularities-in-workgroup-visibility.html> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/10/irregularities-in-workgroup-visibility.html Look at "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each computer, so we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (download browstat!): <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/troubleshooting-network-neighborhood.html#AskingForHelp> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/troubleshooting-network-neighborhood.html#AskingForHelp -- Cheers, Chuck, MS-MVP [Windows - Networking] http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/ Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience. My email is AT DOT actual address pchuck mvps org. You'll get a good idea reading the stuff Chuck mentioned. When it's all said
and done, you might want to check: - Did you set the folders (MyDocuments) sharable?? - Firewall configuration (turn it off to test if firewall is blocking) There are other issues, bit these are the two main ones.
