Netgear WG311 and LinkSys WRT54G?

Edward
have configured wireless networks before but this one is giving me
trouble.
I'm at a complete loss.
I tried using the Netgear utility - nothing.
Signal strength is perfect, and it says its connected but I can't ping
anything.
Here is what I have. Could the encryption be incompatible? If the
encryption wasn't working, then it wouldn't say it was connected,
right?

bny the way, I can bring up the router's page because I pop the network
cable in for a minute just to bring it up and see what's there.
I am using static IP addresses.

Aloha Edward,

I'd guess it's an encryption problem then.  Yes, I've seen adapters display
as "connected" even though they weren't due to encryption issues.

Try turning off encryption and see if it starts working.  If so, then turn
on WEP and see if that works.  If it does, then you can dial it up to WPA
and try again.

Jack (MVP-Networking).
Hi

Start with the  Security Off, switch the Router's DHCP On, and set the
computer to obtain IP Auto. If it works, start to introduce changes one at
the time.  If you plan to use the wire connection and the wireless, tune up
the metrics.  ( http://www.ezlan.net/metrics.html )

I'm no networking expert but you might want to check the
documentation for that Netgear adapter. It may not support WPA
encryption. WEP may be your only option.
