strange Network controller/ipconfig problem

Hello:

My internet/lan  connection strangely died the other day. It shows the
limited or no connectivity message. Tried all of the usual fixes to no
avail. Uninstalled and reinstalled the nic driver (nvidia). It won't
allow an ipconfig / repair. Occasionally when I do an ipconfig - there
are no results at all. I tried another nic card - same thing. Ran
through virus scans and spyware scans - nothing found. I'm usually
pretty good at troubleshooting but I'm stumped on this one. Does anyone
have an idea or has anyone come across something like this before?
Other computers on the same router are fine.

Thanks,
Steve

Steve,

How about some details about your network, and your Internet service?

Hi Chuck:

Its Windows XP SP2. The system is running the latest Nforce4 drivers-
6.86. CPU is Athlon x2 3800+     3gb memory SATA RAID 0
Internet service is wi-fi through a WAP54 access point - feeding into a
Linksys wrt54g router.....  The machine is using a wired connection.
Two other machines wired into the same router work fine. I tried
switching ports, cables, etc.

Thanks,
Steve

Steve,

I'd look at LSP / Winsock corruption first.

But the nForce would be a possible concern too.
