Communications) on your computer. Select the connection method "This computer connects directly to the Internet. The other computers on my network connect to the Internet through this computer." Then, follow the remaining prompts and complete the Wizard. Then, run the Network Setup Wizard on your partner's computer. If the Wizard detects your computer's shared Internet connection, tell it to use that. Otherwise, select the connection method "This computer connects to the Internet through a residential gateway or through another computer on my network." Then, follow the remaining prompts and complete the Wizard. -- Best Wishes, Steve Winograd, MS-MVP (Windows Networking) Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see. I'm sorry, but I don't answer questions addressed directly to me in E-mail or news groups. Are both computers running Windows XP? If so, the Network Setup Wizard should be able to sort you out. Run the NSW on your computer, and select This computer connects directly to the Internet. The other computers on my network connect to the Internet through this computer. <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/using-network-setup-wizard-in-windows.html#ICSHost> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/using-network-setup-wizard-in-windows.html#ICSHost The run the NSW on your partner's, and select This computer connects to the Internet through another computer on my network or through a residential gateway. <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/using-network-setup-wizard-in-windows.html#NATClient> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/using-network-setup-wizard-in-windows.html#NATClient -- Cheers, Chuck, MS-MVP [Windows - Networking] http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/ Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience. My email is AT DOT actual address pchuck mvps org. What is missing is the cable between the 2 compters needs to be a x-over
cable. Ethernet uses pin pars 1/6 and 2/3. A x-over simply makes the 1/6 pair go to the 2/3 pins on the other side of the cable (and 2/3 to 1/6). No switch/hub required. A router would be easier though...
