uninstall remote desktopI’m not able to connect to my computer using remote desktop. I can connect
using third party software, so the connectivity is there. I can connect to OTHER computers from this computer. The computer is in a domain. “Allow users to connect remotely to this computer†is checked. I’m a selected remote user. We think (IT dept) if we uninstall and reinstall the remote desktop from the OS CD, it might fix what ever component is missing. Can you tell us how to do this? Thanks. then we will reinstall it from the CD. thats what we need to do. the IT people have spent days on this trying to fix it. last time, they re-installed the entire OS over the top. that fixed the problem, but created many other problems. so this time, i do not want to reinstall the entire OS, just the remote desktop. firewall is as it should be. ff Show quoteHide quote "Sooner Al [MVP]" wrote: > Any firewall software running on the desktop that may be blocking incoming > Remote Desktop requests? > > http://theillustratednetwork.mvps.org/RemoteDesktop/RemoteDesktopSetupandTroubleshooting.html#Troubleshooting > > -- > > Al Jarvi (MS-MVP Windows Networking) > > Please post *ALL* questions and replies to the news group for the > mutual benefit of all of us... > The MS-MVP Program - http://mvp.support.microsoft.com > This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no > rights... > > "Michael Vestel" <MichaelVes***@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:41343F49-83C2-43A0-B8F5-D77D13031FFF@microsoft.com... > > I'm not able to connect to my computer using remote desktop. command... regsvr32 remotepg.dll ....then reboot the PC. If that does not fix the issue then I suggest a repair installation. Dialog title: Remote Desktop Disconnected The connection was ended because of a network error. Please try connecting to the remote computer again. Last time i reinstalled over the top (my IT people did this), I got so many problems with most of my applications, that I can not allow this to happen again. I had to rebuild a NEW computer becuase of the issues. No i ahve the new computer, but my remote desktop is not working. Again, using third party software, it does connect, so I know it can work. but its very slow and unusable (30seconds from mouse click to response) using the third party connection software can you possibly find someone that might have suggestions on how to resove this without running repair XP?
