Wireless Network Connecion Active but no Internet.....Hello,
I have a wireless network at home using a D-Link router and adapter. The computer that uses the wireless adapter has problerms getting an Interent connection. On boot up, I see that my Wireless Network Connection is active and I have a strong signal. When I view my Wireless networks, it says it is connected. But when I open up a browser window, I get a "page not found" error. I can fix this error by disconnecting from the wireless network and then reconnecting. After I do this, I have internet access and everything is fine. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem could be? Why do I have to disconnect and reconnect? Thanks in advance H In news:1165066109.304141.279630@j72g2000cwa.googlegroups.com, Henry <hank755***@yahoo.ca> typed:Show quoteHide quote > Hello, When you boot up and have this problem, go to a command prompt and type > > I have a wireless network at home using a D-Link router and adapter. > The computer that uses the wireless adapter has problerms getting an > Interent connection. Can you ping the default gateway (the router's LAN IP)? Can you ping your DNS server IP? Can you ping www.google.com? If your DNS server IP is the same as your default gateway, you might change the D-Link's DHCP config to hand out the ISP's DNS server IPs, rather than its own. This tends to work better. |
