Setting up a PPTP server under windows XP

I want to enable my son, who is at a university, to access my home network
and use it to access the Internet. I am told Microsoft VPN will do this.

The first step apparently is to set up one of my computers at home to be a
VPN or PPTP server. But NOWHERE can I find instructions on how to do this.
(The nearest I got on the Microsoft knowledge base assumes the server is set
up correctly!. Right!)

Can anyone help please?
