Help: Greyed out "Network ID" in XP HomeI'm setting up a new laptop running XP home edition and trying to
access a client-server running SBS2003. My problem is that I can't change the computer's name under "Network ID" because that option is greyed-out in XP. I can't access our server without changing this. I'm hoping someone knows a way to get around this. Thanks! Unfortunately I need to join the domain in order to get permission to access the server. Kind of like putting the cart in from of the horse. You have to setup local accounts on the server and the clients. <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/06/file-sharing-under-windows-xp.html#DomainClient> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/06/file-sharing-under-windows-xp.html#DomainClient -- Cheers, Chuck, MS-MVP [Windows - Networking] http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/ Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience. I'll have to send it back to Dell so they can upgrade the OS to XP pro. Thanks again.
