home networking problemI have a desktop and a laptop both with XP. I am trying to network them
together so that I can use the desktop printer. However, I can't seem to get them to network together. I am able to get on the internet with both but on my desktop it doesn't allow me to look and see what computers are on my workgroup and on the laptop it only shows laptop as being apart of the workgroup On Wed, 6 Dec 2006 18:15:00 -0800, scott <sc***@discussions.microsoft.com>

There are several other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem. Read this article with an open mind. <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/10/irregularities-in-workgroup-visibility.html> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/10/irregularities-in-workgroup-visibility.html For more direct help, provide "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net config server", and "net config workstation", from each computer, so we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (download browstat!): <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/troubleshooting-network-neighborhood.html#AskingForHelp> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/troubleshooting-network-neighborhood.html#AskingForHelp -- Cheers, Chuck, MS-MVP [Windows - Networking] http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/ Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience.
