We have been working for one of the Most Effective Microsoft Learning
Solution Partners and now experiencing  some weird technical problems about
TCP/IP fundamentals.

Let me shortly describe the problem;

When 2 clients configured as below;

One is configured as shown
192.168.1.1 / 24 and Default Gateway= 192.168.1.1

And the other one is

193.168.1.1 / 24 and Default Gateway=193.168.1.1

Its just unacceptable that they can communicate with eachother!!!
How could you explain this result?

We have never seen that before. Its  just against the TCP/IP Terms

We tried it in Vista Operating Systems and it didnt work!
So we thought that Microsoft has taken some actions about this bug and fixed
that. We would like to know What Microsoft did to fix the problem.

Thanks

Regards

Please give more information to help other people understand the
situation.

How are you able to communicate between the systems?  What commands
are you using?  How are you verifying that they can communicate?

Can the computers ping each other using their IP addresses?

Can the computers ping each other using their computer names?

Do the computers have any other IP addresses?

Do the computers have any other network adapters that are connected to
each other?

Do the computers have any other network protocol installed, such as
NWLink IPX/SPX?

Do the default gateway addresses belong to  routers on the network?
If so, are those routers configured to communicate with each other?
