Win 2000 Laptop Unable To Access Win XP PRO via Windows LANMy connection is via cable. I can access the files on LAPTOP from my PC but cannot access the shared files or printers from my LAPTOP. When I check NETWORK CONNECTIONS on the LAPTOP it shows connected. I can see the icon for my PC server from the LAPTOP folder list but if I select the icon for the PC server and click PROPERTIES I receive an error message "The Server cannot be found on the network". If I double click the server icon I receive an error message "\\ Dennis is not accessible. The network path was not found. I have performed the NETWORK REPAIR option on my PC and it reached a normal end. Any help will be most appreciated. -- Dennis G Have you enable Windows firewall file sharing on the XP? Thanks for the reply. I cannot find an ENABLE WINDOWS FIREWALL on MY NETWORK PLACES and, in Control Panel it shows that WINDOWS FIREWALL is not running. I'm not sure if I ever had it running. I don't think I had this problem before upgrading WIN PRO with the new version of Internet Explorer. Could this upgrade have caused this problem somehow? -- Show quoteHide quoteDennis G "Robert L [MVP - Networking]" wrote: > Have you enable Windows firewall file sharing on the XP?
