HI,
I read in  some articles where it said that windows XP supports IPv6
after the installation of Service Pack 2. I had installed SP2 and type the
follwomg command in the command prompt to enable IPv6.
  -- netsh interface ipv6 install

A reply "OK" was displayed. When i went into the network properties i was
able to see a TCP/IP version 6 protocol installed. But when i selected it the
"Properties " button was disabled.I would like to know how to enable the
properties for IPv6 in the network properties?

Thanks and Regards,
Vinod

You can't.

In XP / 2003, all IPv6 configuration is via the netsh command.

Vista allows some basic IPv6 config via a GUI.

Can we configure a priner using IPv6 addres, since the OS is not
allowing me to add a IPv6 port with a colo(ex: 2222::100:155) . Is there any
means which we can resolve this issue?

Best regards,
Vinod

You mean create a standard TCP/IP port in the Add Printer Wizard, to allow
port9100 printing direct to a printer which is connected directly to the
LAN, for example a JetDirect card?

I know of no way to set up this using IPv6 under XP.   I'm fairly certain
this is not possible in XP with the native TCP/IP printing support.   But
then again, I know of no JetDirect type cards which support IPv6 yet,
anyway.   What kind of print server box are you trying to connect to over
IPv6?

IPv6 is of limited use on XP.
Most of the OS components don't support it:   For example: OE can't connect
to mail servers over IPv6,   the DNS client can't query over IPv6,
File+Print sharing doesn't work over IPv6 etc etc.

Pretty much all you *can* do with it is browse IPv6 websites with IE.
And ping things.
And set up routing and tunnels.

That's about it, unless you load 3-rd party software.
