NetworkingWe have a small network of 3 Desktop PCs and a Laptop, something very strange
happened a couple of days ago which caused one of the PCs to wipe completely, I have now re-installed most things but I can no longer connect to the network for file or printer sharing through this PC although I can access the internet as each PC is connected to a hub which is, in turn, connected to a router. Any ideas? In article <177F29C6-AD96-4A62-B832-DD537A6F8***@microsoft.com>,

Any ideas? to the Internet through a residential gateway (the Wizard's name for a router). If you tell the Wizard that the computer connects to the Internet through a hub, it will block file and printer sharing. -- Best Wishes, Steve Winograd, MS-MVP (Windows Networking) Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see. I'm sorry, but I don't answer questions addressed directly to me in E-mail or news groups. Microsoft Most Valuable Professional Program http://mvp.support.microsoft.com Unfortunately this has not helped at all. Any other suggestions?

Any other suggestions? Make sure that any firewall program (Norton, McAfee, PC-cillin, ZoneAlarm, etc) is configured to allow access by other computers on the local network. Note that some antivirus programs, such as Norton Antivirus 2006, have firewall functions that need to be configured. If that doesn't help, please provide more information about the problem. The more you tell us, the more likely it is that someone can help. For example: Can the troublesome computer access other computers? Can other computers access it? How are you trying to connect to the network for file or printer sharing on that computer? What exactly happens when you do it? If there's an error message, what does it say? -- Best Wishes, Steve Winograd, MS-MVP (Windows Networking) Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see.
