Virtual Private Network Connection

I'm using XP with sp2. I'm trying to set up a vpn to connect to my work
computer. In the new connection wizard my options for a dial up connection
and VPN are grayed out, not available.

How can I fix this?

This is generally caused by inappropriate use of System Restore, or a similar
scenario.
