I can no longer switch users in XP Pro.  Apparently somehow my computer is
"part of a domain".  How do I make it NOT part of a domain anymore.

My Computer | Properties | Computer Name | Change | Select Workgroup and
provide workgroup name | Okay | Reboot.

Don't do this if you do not understand the consequences.

What are the consequences?  By the way, I couldn't find this in My Computer.
I found it in "System" and it does not show me being part of a domain.  Is
there another reason I can't switch users?

You have to right-click on My computer to get to the Properties page. It is
the same as "System".

Now... you say that this shows you are not a member of a domain. In your
orignal message you said "Apparently somehow my computer is part of a
domain."

Explain "Apparently somehow".

Simply remove it from the domain to which you, or someone else, added it.

OK let me back up.  I thought I was part of a domain because I can not
switch users and the help section said this was due to being part of a
domain.  I went to control panel and the section to turn on switch users is
grayed out as well as the section to use the start up menu where you sellect
which user you want to log on as.  I am running windows XP pro.

Any ideas on what I need to do.

Try this...

Control Panel | User Accounts | Advanced | Unckeck the block that says
"Require Users to Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete".
