Question on site encryption

I am running XP PRO SP2
I use both Firefox and Explorer to access internet.
I do some banking on line.
I used to see a neat little padlock at the bottom of web windows
that gave me the confidence (?) that the given bank-site-accesses were
encrypted.  Now I no longer see that.
Hence I am concerned my info may be going out in the clear.
That, of course, would be terrible.

Can someone advise me on this?

Thanks

You need to solve your problems in one place instead of making a lot of
threads. The problems are connected.

What is the malware/virus status of the machine? If you think it is clean,
what programs (and versions) did you use to determine this?

Be sure the computer is clean:

Once again, if you can't do the work yourself you need to take the machine
to a qualified computer tech.

I should have googled the subject.

What I found follows.  Problem solved.

Thanks for that Seany,
The padlock is where you said it was - I had the horizontal
position of my display a bit too far across to the left. Glad it was
as simple as that.
