Second question.  Should I be able to burn DVDs in the Pro machine from
the
Home machine across the network?
End of Quote.

A burner program can Not use a CD Writer that is on another computer.
If your Network works well you can burn Data/Files that are on another
computer through the Network, but the CD writer and the Burning program must
be on the same computer.
