Accessing shares on an XP system with Windows Firewall enabled?

I have a couple of shares on my XP  (+SP3) system, that I want to access from a Vista Business system.

When I activate the Windows Firewall and then try to access the shares, then that access always fails. If I disable the firewall on the XP system the access works fine. How do I convince the Windows Firewall to allow access to those shares (given, the remote user supplies a correct user-id and pwd, of course...)

Hi
You have to adjust the Firewall to provide free flowing of traffic to your
specific private network.
In general. Make sure that the Software Firewall on each computer allows
free local traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall On, Vista/XP Native
Firewall should be Off, and the active Firewall has to adjusted to your
Network IP numbers on what is some time called the Trusted Zone (consult
your 3rd Party Firewall instructions.

================================
You must enable file and printer sharing in the firewalls.  This setting
allows these packets to pass through.

Control Panel -> Windows Firewall -> Exceptions (Tab)
Make sure "File and Printer Sharing" is checked.
