Re: vpn client share accessI used a tech republic tutorial for setting up the VPN and it said to have ICS turned on for the VPN server. I can certainly turn it off. Yes, I can ping the external IP address and also the internal IP of the VPN server with not problem. happen. I was able to map a drive to \\ipaddr\share but still not to \\computername\share. I would just as soon not have the firewall off. Do I only need to open port 1743? And only for TCP? Is it okay to map to the ipaddress? I have read that this is not very reliable. Also, how many users can use the VPN at one time? If it can be more than one, do they each need a separate log in? is XP VPN, it is better to use IP instead of name. Just make sure the XP has static IP address. In XP VPN, you can have just one VPN connection. These search results may help. a.. Since we have a number of people who need to connect and it isn't really practical to have only connection, we will need another alternative.
