Lose Network Connection Until Ping ComputerI have a 3-computer wireless network all running Windows XP SP3, all Dell
computers. All 3 computers share folders with each other. 2 computers work fine on the network. One computer loses connectivity to the other computers, their shared folders, and the shared network printer multiple times during the day but keeps its connection to the Internet. If I get on that computer and use the Ping command to check connectivity to another computer on the network, I immediately regain connectivity to the shared folders on the other computer. The connection will last an hour or so, then the network connection will drop again and I must Ping one more time to regain network connectivity. I have changed the Network Name on all computers, both hard-coded IP info and allowed IP addresses to be assigned by the router. Nothing fixes the drop problem but a Ping by itself always restores the connection for a period of time. Does anyone have any ideas how to resolve this issue? Thanks. When you ping, do you ping IP or name? it could be name resolution issue.

I ping the IP address, not the name. I have also gone to Start - Run
and typed in the computer name (\\Name) and after running that command I can connect the shared drives on the computer as well. Start-Run and type in the computer name (\\Name) and connect to the shared drives after that. It also holds the connection 60-90 minutes.
