Wireless network connections

Hi!

Whenever I insert a wireless network adaptor (D-Link DWA 110) into a new USB
port, it creates a new Wireless Lan Connection, and each time the connection
has default properties and has to be configured. And when I enter the static
IP for the PC, it complains that the IP is already in use. (I say dont care)
I am up to Wireless connection 5 now.
The connection disappears from the network connection folder when the
connection is closed and the adapter is removed.
When the connection is visible, it cannot be deleted.
Why is this? And how can I make the same connection get enabled when the
adaptor is put into ANY port (or at the worst, a specific port)

Thanks,

Mohan

This will always cause problems.  USB port will constantly assign a
new "sequence" number to the wireless adapter, when detected on a
different / new USB port.

The only "real" solution is to not use static IP address.  DHCP will
assign the IP address.  Some DHCP "service" / servers can be set up to
reserver the same IP address whenever the DHCP "service" / server
detects the adapter's unique internal physical address (aka MAC
address.)

Thanks!!

I have to try out the DHCP: I just stopped the service on the router, as it
appeared to clash with my static LAN IPs!

The DHCP did work, but I cannot use it, as I use the IP address to monitor
bandwidth usage; and my Wireless router (D-Link DIR300) cannot (I think)
allocate fixed IP addresses. And even if it could, it would be to MAC
addresses; and if the adapter is moved to a different machine, this would
vitiate the monitoring.

Any way the "Wireless Network Connection xx"s can be deleted? I located them
in the registry, but they are in HKLM/System/Current Control set/enum/.....;
and I am not sure I know the way around.

Any advice?
