IE loses internet connectionafter displaying a web page and then waiting about 10-15 minutes, I am unable to browse to any web site. I get the error "unable to load web page". However, I am able to open a DOS window and ping web sites, I can also send and receive email from Outlook Express. I have tried switching browsers, scanning for viruses and even checked for winsock corruption but nothing seems to work. When this does happen I have a Cisco VPN client that allows me to log into my network at work. After I establish the connection and then disconnect from the VPN, I can then browse the internet without issues. My setup is XP Pro with latest service pack and Linksys wireless hardware. Any ideas? - Carl Hi
Check the running processes, make sure that the VPN client is Not running when it is Not needed. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx Jack (MS, MVP-Networking) Show quoteHide quote "windozuser" <windozu***@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:1A4973EE-C6EF-4D76-9787-B0272E398D90@microsoft.com... >I am having problems with IE losing the internet connection. Yes, I've checked and the VPN process is not running. This is so frustrating as I have a similar configuration on my laptop and I don't lose the browser connection. I'm seriously thinking of reinstalling XP again, on the desktop. Any other ideas? Try to check Cisco's support. Might be that they are aware of such problem. I turn on the PC, after about 4-9 minutes of web surfing the browser loses internet connectivity. However, I can open a DOS window in ping www.microsoft.com or www.yahoo.com. I can also send/receive email from Outlook Express. I have tried flushing the DNS, using a static IP address, but nothing seems to work. This problem occurs across browsers (FireFox, Chrome, IE). I know I can get out to the internet because I can ping, but the browsers just lose connectivity. The only solution is reboot..browse for 5-9 minutes..reboot..browse for 5-9 minutes..reboot. I have scanned for viruses and such but none are on the system. Any ideas? - Carl Show quoteHide quote "Jack-MVP" wrote: > Hi > Try to check Cisco's support.
