File sharing in xp homeI cannot share the subfolders in program files in xp home ssp2
I understand that file sharing is not possible on the program folder or windoz folder in xp home ssp2. although I do note that it is available on one of my machines which has not not had ssp2 instaslled and is running xp home. My question is two fold (1) Can i get round the proble of not being abkle to share program folder.(the suggested get round of starting up in safe modw with networking -doesn't work) (2) If I have to live with not being able to share the full prgram folder. why can i nit share the sub folders even when i have ticked the share box in the sharing template. I can see and access all other folders in the normal way on the network have you considered using ftp?
i use filezilla server and client for all transfers http://sourceforge.net/projects/filezilla hth philip ashley Show quoteHide quote "surfeer" <surf***@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:DBEAE440-E07E-45ED-865B-10D93513D658@microsoft.com... >I cannot share the subfolders in program files in xp home ssp2 > I understand that file sharing is not possible on the program folder > or > windoz folder in xp home ssp2. although I do note that it is available > on one > of my machines which has not not had ssp2 instaslled and is running xp > home. > My question is two fold > (1) Can i get round the proble of not being abkle to share program > folder.(the suggested get round of starting up in safe modw with > networking > -doesn't work) > (2) If I have to live with not being able to share the full prgram > folder. > why can i nit share the sub folders even when i have ticked the share > box in > the sharing template. > > I can see and access all other folders in the normal way on the > network In article <DBEAE440-E07E-45ED-865B-10D93513D***@microsoft.com>,

Run the Network Setup Wizard on the computer that won't share folders properly. That might fix the problem. If it doesn't, what exactly happens when you try to share subfolders in Program Files? What tells you that they aren't shared? -- Best Wishes, Steve Winograd, MS-MVP (Windows Networking) Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see.
