I am running XP pro on a desktop connected to a wireless router via
ethernet cable, my laptop is connected to the same router wirelessly.
Both computers are set to MSHOME and I have disconnected all firewalls
except for microsoft windows firewall. I can see and access all shared
documents from the desktop but the laptop can not see any of the
shared documents on the desktop.

On both machines disable Simple Sharing in Folder Options>View. Create
identical user accounts and passwords on both machines. In Windows
Firewall, make sure that File & Printer Sharing is checked on the
Exceptions tab. Share out desired resources.

Here is a network troubleshooter by MVP Hans-Georg Michna. If you are
still having problems after you try the above suggestions, take the
time to go through Mr. Michna's troubleshooter. It normally pinpoints
the problem area(s).
