Help Can't Connect Dell 2400 to Internet!

Before I unplug and take my machine for repair I am hoping that someone
can help me fix this problem. My Internet connection over my wireless
card stopped working four months ago.  Since, I have swapped wireless
cards, tried using my dial connection, and even drilled a hole into my
wall to string a LAN cable to my built-in network card.  Although the
IP address is being acquired and I can ping the other PCs in the house,
I still cannot connect to the Internet using any of the above methods .

Re-installing Windows XP (Home) has not helped, nor has repairing IE,
or changing my Internet configuration options a few dozen times.  I
have run out of things to check!

Any ideas before I take it to a repair shop?

As always, thanks in advance

Try pinging an Internet site, for example:

ping novell.com

If that works , you have connectivty and it's a browser problem.

If not (but you can ping other PCs) then I would suspect that the Default
Gateway and DNS Server settings are not being acquired properly. I assume you
have a wireless router, in which case this should be assigning them by DHCP.

IPCONFIG /ALL  typed at a command-prompt should tell you what the present
settings are.

Great suggestion!  I was able to ping novell.com as well as google.com
and others.  Does this mean that my hardware is working?  I installed
Netscape Browser but it still doesn't work.  Any other ideas?
