Sharing Drive under XP on home networkUnder Sharing and Security I've made root of a drive available to my home
network (no domain). The problem is none of the folders on the drive are made available for sharing. I have to share each folder individually. Can I make a drive available and all of the folders on the drive with one step? -- chris Hi Chris,

On computer 2 I right click on the C drive and set it to share with the network. But When I'm on computer 1 and I go to My Network Places I CAN open the C drive but CAN'T open any of the folders in it. So C drive is ok. But not any of the folders on it. I am experiencing the same problem. I get this error message: _____ \\Josephcpu\c\Documents and Settings\ is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact your administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Access Denied. _____ I need to know how to share every single folder and every single file without doing them all one by one. Should there not be one button or something to share ENTIRE COMPUTER on the network? Something of the sort... permissions. NTFS permissions are available with the NTFS file system and Win XP Pro and not XP Home edition. NTFS permits or denies sharing of individual folders and files and propagation from folders through sub-folders. Win xp Home default setting is "simple file sharing" (which can be toggled off/on). Share permissions with XP Home only permit assignment to folders and not individual files a.g. if folder is given read, change or full control permissions - it apply to all files in that folder. Also with share permissions you cannot deny access to any user e.g. all users can access share. (There is an exception - you can make a folder "private' which cannot b e accessed. So - kind of a long winded essay - 1. file and print sharing must be "activated' 2. ensure that the user that is trying to access the shares has permissions for this. If the user has permissions then check the security tab and ensure they have permissions in this as well. Joe.
