Change between wireless networksI have a DLink wireless router (DI-624) in the attic and a DLINK
(DWL-2100AP) in the base floor in order to fully cover the building. I have configured them with a different SSID and with WPA (PSK). I did the same on my HP 8020 laptop. Problems: When I close the laptop and it hypernates something happens and when I resume, it cannot aquire address. The same happens when I change network, ie. move from attic to base floor. It starts to aquire address but it will never end. or it will end up with limited or no connectivity. What can I do? Has anyone successfully configured the network to automatically switch between the 2 network points according to which is stronger? (and achieve this instantanuously) I assume that only happens in the hibernate process or not?
1. Is it hibernate process works fine? Is it fully hibernate or not? 2-Did you try to update Windows XP in Microsoft Web Page or HP Pages, maybe too in Intel Web Page, there are some updates that can help. There is not a Signal strong issue, it seems a software-hardware conflict with the Wireless Card when hibernate. 3. I recommend you try to buy a Wireless Signal extender instead of a Router to avoid regularity changes between the 2 Router or try to set both with the same encrytation profiles. >I have a DLink wireless router (DI-624) in the attic and a DLINK >(DWL-2100AP) in the base floor in order to fully cover the building. The same happens when I change network, Just hit the REPAIR option (right click on wireless icon in the tray) and it > ie. move from attic to base floor. So, a repair will make it do that, drop the IP address it had been assigned before, flush DNS and set back up with whatever it can find locally. Of course, if you turn it off where it was and turn it on again in the new location, it will have done the same. To change from AP to AP configure the same SSID on each AP but use a
different channel, ie. AP1 = Channel 1 and AP2 = Channel 6 for example. Make sure the encryption key (WPA or WEP) is the same on each AP... -- Show quoteHide quoteAl Jarvi (MS-MVP Windows Networking) Please post *ALL* questions and replies to the news group for the mutual benefit of all of us...
