(sorry for the double post, but I just discovered this newsgroup on
wireless!)

This is a wireless connection project I want to do between 2 houses that are
of close proximity to each other.

What kind of hardware would I need to do this? cables, antenna, routers?

How long can the cables that go from the router to the antenna be?

What is the estimated cost of something like this?

I have done some home interior wireless networks, but not on this scale
(external etc)

thanks!

you just need to buy one pair of outdoor wireless equipment
e.g. Proxim 5054R

Hi

If the plan is to have Wireless indoor and lay RF coax to the outside? It is
Not a good idea.

2.4GHz signal deteriorate fast using coax (10’ is a practical max.); in
addition Antennae connected directly into the house might be a hazard in
case of bad weather.

Best is to bridge with two addional Access Point (AP) mounted out side (or
near opposing windows), and lay CAT5e to connect the APs to the Network. If
the APs are mounted out side they should be POE (I.e. powered through the
Ethernet), and lightning arrestors.
