hello,
i'm sure this is a very silly question but i really can't figure it out so
i am hoping someone out there can help me. i set up a wireless router with my
dsl. i have no trouble with internet connection on my laptop. my
desktop, however, doesn't seem to recognize that wireless exists. It doesn't
show it to me as an option in network connections.  i am positive it is
wireless capable because it used to be wirelessly connected to the internet
when it was in another room in our house. i have tried and tried and cant
figure it out. all help appreciated. thanks!

is the wi-fi card in the desktop powered up?  are you seeing any other
wi-fi networks on the desktop?  is the desktop in a weak signal area
in the house?  if placed side-by-side will the laptop still see the
network?  does the wi-fi card in the desktop have an adjustable
antenna or can an external antenna be connected?

i'm assuming your 'no' refered to all my questions.  might be time to
replace the wireless card in the desktop.  buy one from someplace that
has a good return policy in case that's not the problem.
