Wireless help please??My new laptop arrived yesterday and it found my BT hub (Thomson ST Remote NDIS Device) automatically so I entered the key and it all fired up beautifully, I was so pleased because I know nothing about networking and was worried it would be complicated. Now there is a but, this morning I turn on my laptop and it cannot find a wireless network!??!? Just to fill you in on a few details, my router is always on, I have made no changes to my home PC which is connected to the BT Router via USB lead. I turned my new laptop off and on several times yesterday and was impressed that there was always a connection present without any prompting. I also want to set up so my laptop can access my slave drive on my PC where all my important documents are, to so save me copying them over, but XP network wizard hasn't helped much. Is there a kind person who can help, even on the phone I am happy to call in the UK just email me, or is there a 'complete idiots guide' on the net somewhere that I can look at? Thanks guys for any help! Graham Ignore my post, having tried for two hours this morning, changing every
setting possible I decided, as it is only one day old, to restore the laptop to it's original config and surprise surprise, my wireless network works again. God knows what changed but all is well. wireless network either manually or using the manufacturer's install routine. Enjoy your wireless network- it is always fun working in the backyard while barbecuing :) B. I am trying to share files and a printer. The printer is a USB and connected to my PC. I am having a lot of trouble accessing files and my PC printer from my laptop it keeps saying 'not accessible.' On my PC my printer is listed as shared and also my files are all there, but although I can see the network listed on my laptop I cannot get into it to see files etc I just get the name of my PC listed with the three little blue TV's (sorry but I am very new to this!) If I click on the name of my PC in the Network list on my laptop I get the egg timer for about 30 seconds and then 'not accessible' I have set up permissions and I can ping both computers so why won't it let my laptop in? Any help please very much appreciated I have been on this all day reading guides off the net and I do seem to have them talking but not sharing. Thanks guys!
