Need help understanding what to purchase!Hi,
I'm configuring a small office network for a non-profit organization. Through donations and small purchases, we have everything we need except for a WAP. We've decided to buy one, but I find that I'm quite confused by the array of devices out there. I was hoping somebody could offer some advice. We need to add wireless support to a network that already has a DHCP server. When I check out WAP's, they seem to also have a built-in Router/Switch. My main question is: do I look for a device that is just a WAP, or will one of these all-in-ones work? Thank you, Kevin Audleman, Data Systems Programmer Yes! Magazine Hi
You should look for an Access Point. Example, http://reviews.cnet.com/Linksys_WAP54G_Wireless_G_access_point/4505-3265_7-20796892.html However read this as well, http://www.ezlan.net/APvsRoute.html Jack (MVP-Networking). <audle***@quasika.net> wrote in message Show quoteHide quote news:1155147451.776291.173440@m73g2000cwd.googlegroups.com... > Hi, > > I'm configuring a small office network for a non-profit organization. > Through donations and small purchases, we have everything we need > except for a WAP.
